The Clear Vision Accountancy Team are saddened to hear of the death of Dr Sidney Alford.

Sidney established Alford Technologies in 1985 and went on to work to develop pioneering new technologies for dealing safely with Improvised Explosive Devices over the next 35 years.

His inventions made a significant contribution to the development of explosive ordnance disposal.

We can only imagine the number of military personnel, humanitarian organisation workers and civilians across the world Sidney helped to protect during his extraordinary career.

His achievements and contributions were rightly recognised many times. Sidney received two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise and an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours, for services to explosive ordnance disposal. Just before his death, Sidney was awarded the US Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award, the highest award available for a civilian. During the award ceremony the Navy officials highlighted the many, many lives Sidney saved through his innovation and hard work.

There are few people who leave such a legacy as Sidney and we are very proud to have provided accountancy and business strategy support to Sidney, Roland and the Alfords team.

He will be missed by the Clear Vision team and we send our best wishes and condolences to Itsuko, Roland, Xavier and the rest of Sidney’s family.

RIP Sidney.
