We welcome in 2024 with a lot of rain and some cold days, but also a lot of positivity. For once I’d rather be sitting behind my desk if only to stay warm!
It has given me some time to reflect on 2023 and look forward to 2024. Many small businesses run day in day out with little time for owners to think. As I prepare my forecasts and goals for 2024, I wonder how many of you take the time to do the same?
Start the year off with clear intent and set yourself some personal goals. Then consider the influence your business has on achieving these. Think about doing a forecast, to prove to yourself it can be achieved and then hold your self accountable each month to make sure you are on target.
The focus here at Clear Vision will continue to be CONNECT, INFORM, PEACE OF MIND. I want to understand you and your business, keep you up to date with all the relevant information and financial data, and allow you to have that peace of mind when you go home at the end of a busy day. All of the team here are part of your support network and want you to know that you don’t have to run your business alone.
If you need support with forecasts or goals, get in touch with me and I will be happy to help you get started and hold you accountable…..
Self-Assessment deadlines 31 January 2024
If you still haven’t signed off your personal tax return, please do so as soon as possible.
There also might be a few of you still to provide all of the information. The deadline is looming and we pride ourselves on submitting all of our tax returns on time but we can only do this with your support.
Please remember that tax returns filed after the deadline will incur a late filing penalty of £100.
Holiday Entitlement and Holiday Pay update
If you have employees who work irregular hours, only part of the year, or regular overtime, to name just a few of those that may be affected, please read the following link:
You may wish to review your holiday policies and processes to ensure they align with the changed law.
Protect yourself today!
Tax enquiries can be costly and our expert support in dealing with these is not included in your normal accountancy fees. Spending a small amount on your Tax Fee Protection means that you will receive complete support if HMRC targets you. This is especially topical at present for those companies with R&D claims, as the level of HMRC enquiries into these is growing.

P11d filing to end
Currently over 4m P11d returns are filed each year. HMRC has announced that from 6 April 2026, it will be mandatory to payroll all benefits in kind, with both tax and Class 1A paid via the payroll system. There is no further detail at present, but draft legislation will be published next year.
